Community Gardens Grants and Funding


The next Grant Application due date is October 1, 2019.

PURPOSE OF GRANT

PURCHASE ASSETS NEW PROGRAM EXPAND EXISTING PROGRAM

You may pick up a rules and application packet at the ACES office on the 2nd floor of theBirmingham Botanical Garden administration building or emailKate Mussoif you would like thememailed to you.You will need to tell us what the grant will be used for, how it will benefit yourcommunity, and what involvement Jefferson County Master Gardeners will have.

Requests for equipment or software purchases should be very specific. JCMGA reserves the right to purchasethe items directly and donate them to the Applicant.

Requests for Community Garden Starter Kits should include:

Irrigation planned and source of water.

Process of distributing produce.

Requests to fund new or expand existing programs should specifically include:

* The target population need and how this grant will address it.

* Specific program goals during and subsequent to the grant period.

* Existing funding sources and how this grant will be integrated into the existing program.

* How the program will be funded after this grant has been spent.

* Is there a fee for the program?

COMMUNITY GARDEN STARTER KIT

$250 will be given for this starter kit.

One raised bed 12 ft. By 4 ft. 10” high

1 raised bed:

4 planter wall blocks

two 2” x 10” x 12’ ground contact lumber

one 2” x 10” x 8’ ground contact lumber

45 bags composted manure

10 bags mushroom compost

5 bags wood mulch

REQUEST FOR FUNDING GRANT FROM JEFFERSON COUNTY MASTER

GARDENERS ASSOCIATION (JCMGA)

Grant applications will be accepted quarterly on January 2, April 1, July 1, andOctober 1. If approved a summary of the grant request will be published in the next issue of the Association’s newsletter, Roots and Shoots, and will be presented forgeneral membership approval at the first regular Association meeting followingpublication.

By submitting this grant request the sponsor and applicant state that:

* The applicant is a not for profit entity located in Jefferson County

Alabama.

* The grant will not be used to pay any Administrative, Overhead or similar

expenses.

*The grant will not be used to pay salaries, wages or related employee

benefit expenses.

* The Applicant will provide quarterly reports to JCMGA of expenses paid

from the grant.
