Putnam Middle School Formal Pollinator Garden
Ben, Lynn, Phillis and Reggie’s Intern project was create a formal pollinator garden to work with the 25 raised vegetable beds that students had designed working Jones Valley Teaching Farm and the Birmingham Audubon Society. They gave a presentation about their work supporting a rare bird species found there, the Brown Headed Nuthatch that lives in Lolley Pines They removed invasive plants like Privit. They cleared the understory and planted Beauty Berry. The made nesting boxes and have planted the pollinator plants in the boxes they created.
